Srinagar, Apr 21 (KNO): The Jammu & Kashmir Civil Engineers’ Graduate Association (JKCEGA) extended its heartfelt gratitude to the Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir, Omar Abdullah, for his leadership and timely intervention in addressing a critical administrative concern within the Jal Shakti Department. In a landmark decision aimed at strengthening the engineering cadre and accelerating developmental works, the Chief Minister, along with cabinet ministers, Jal Shakti Javid Ahmad Rana, has approved the relaxation in qualifying services for the post of Chief Engineer & Superintending Engineer and subsequently promotion of 25 Executive Engineers as Incharge Superintending Engineers. Besides, this has also paved the way for appointment for the post of Chief Engineers in Jal Shakti Department which are vacant for many months due to shortage in qualifying services. This exceptional step, taken in the public interest, showcases the government’s commitment to good governance and responsive administration, reads a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO). JKCEGA acknowledged that this move will play a pivotal role in ensuring continuity in planning, execution, and supervision of vital water supply and irrigation projects across Jammu & Kashmir. With these promotions, the department will be better equipped to deliver efficient public services and meet developmental targets without delays. On behalf of the entire civil engineering fraternity, JKCEGA places on record its sincere gratitude & appreciation to Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, for taking a personal interest in resolving this long-pending issue, Minister for Jal Shakti Department, Javed Ahmad Rana, for his consistent support and advocacy in the cabinet for approving the relaxation in qualifying services , and Financial Commissioner (Additional Chief Secretary) Jal Shakti Department, Shaheen Kabra, for ensuring smooth procedural clearances and follow up in issuance of a cabinet decision for relaxation & subsequent orders. This decision will not only boost the morale of the engineering workforce but will also inspire confidence among officers who are tirelessly working to uplift infrastructure and public utilities across the Union Territory. JKCEGA remains committed to supporting the government in its vision of a progressive, well-managed, and efficient public works infrastructure and assures full cooperation in implementing development agendas on ground, the statement added—(KNO)
